Patricia Rand, MA, Paramedic

Patricia Rand holds a BA in microbiology, a BS in Dental Hygiene and a MA in Information Learning Technology-all from the University of Colorado (Go Buffs!).  She is a graduate of the Denver Health Paramedic Program and has worked as an EMT and/or Paramedic in Boulder, Ft. Collins, Denver and Greeley, CO.  She is currently a professor at Aims Community College in the Paramedic Program.    Additionally, she is a site visitor for CAAHEP (CoAEMPS) the accrediting body for Paramedic programs accross the United States.  

She is particularly interested in helping teachers to implement the findings of cognitive neurosciene as well as add multimedia elements  (especially podcasting) to their curriculum.  Ms. Rand has been asked to speak at the eLearning Consortium of Colorado Conference two years in a row concerning her use of Multimedia in Paramedic education, at the Colorado EMS Educator's Symposium and at Colorado Mountain College .

Much of her suggestions are based on the work of Dr. Richard Mayer (cognitive psychologist) and Dr. John Medina, author of the book Brain Rules.
